Hey Ya’ll!!  If you are interested in doing some serious horseback riding and earning the horsemanship Merit Badge, while riding parts of D-bar-A Scout Ranch that many never see, all the while caring for the critter you’re riding, then you have to ride the “YUCCA TRAIL.”

The trail is a four day, three night horseback riding experience that you will never forget. It will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. on the first evening, so you will not want to be late.

This event starts with you being  assigned a horse, which will be your responsibility for the entire trail experience. You will ride, groom, feed, and care for him and even take turns during the night, tending to the herd.

You’ll sleep out under the stars, just like the cowboys do on the open range. During the day, you will be riding and learning the merit badge, while at night you’ll be able to sing songs of western ballads and spinning tales of the old west, all while making new friends.

And Parents…. Don’t worry, your youngsters will be with a group of experienced staff, including “Gabby Hayes”. The closing dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. on the final evening, where you will take part in a traditional western cookout. Parents and families are invited to the dinner.

Participants should be at least 13 years of age and First Class, and have some riding and camping experience. After all, this is a provisional type of outing. The ranch provides all of your needs including food, except your personal camping gear, all for $200 per Scout. Medical forms are required.

Parents and Scouters are you interested in attending as well? If space permits,  you may register after May 1st or July 1st for the respective dates.
