Michigan DNR

Michigan Department of Natural Resources

In honor of the 100th Anniversaries of the Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America, the Department of Natural Resources is announcing the implementation of the conservation stewardship award to recognize the accomplishments of scouts and encourage continued cooperation between the Department and scouting organizations. The Natural Resources Stewardship Award will be available to both Girl and Boy Scouts at multiple levels. The Stewardship award is designed to increase scouts awareness and knowledge about the state's natural resources and involving them in activities that help to protect and improve them.

Cub Scouts and Webelos will be eligible to receive the Natural Resources stewardship patch when they have met the activity requirements. Boy Scouts will be eligible to receive the ribbon and medal when they have completed the initial requirements.  Resource pins may be earned once the medal has been earned. To make it easier on the councils the Department will be the point of contact for applications. Once application are processed we will send a copy of the approved application to the appropriate council.

We are just completing the Department web pages for this award and as our tribute to partnership the Department has had with Scouts.
