Your lodge and chapter officers gathered the weekend of August 21 at Camp Agawam to participate in Lodge Leadership Development. While there, they planned the next year of Chippewa Lodge and learned techniques to better guide their brothers.
Hey Chippewa,
We just got back from NOAC and had an OA-mazing time! Chippewa Lodge #29 had, of course, 29 delegates representing the lodge among a total of 7000 Arrowmen on the Campus of the University of Indiana. At NOAC - The National Order of the Arrow Conference - contingent members partook in various training sessions that ranged from "The Power of One" to "The History of Our Order".
As a contingent, we then participated in the NOAC Lodgeball Competition, where we'd like to think that we made it to the semi-semi-finals; however, our game was rained out. As noted by our T-shirts, Chippewa continued to be the fattest and sassiest lodge in all of the OA. Our high level of spirit truly set the precedent for NOAC events and we even had a cheer battle with Gabe Lodge (from Lansing, Michigan), where we showed just how fat and sassy Chippewa really is. That evening ended with the Order of the Arrow setting the Guinness Book of World Record's record for the largest Kazoo Band, a 600-person Lodgeball game, and The Hodag.
The final day of NOAC was Founder's Day. For those of you who don't know what Founder's Day is, think free stuff... and lots of it. At Founder's Day, one could obtain the signature of the OA's National Chief, Jack O'Neill who is one of the nicest boys in the world and truly has a good heart. The evening and conference came to a close with a very moving theatrical show telling the secret to life: "All you need is love". For those of you who were there, I had a great time with you and the fellowship amongst the Lodge was truly unprecedented in my Scouting career.
For those of you who weren't there, you missed a GREAT time; however, the next NOAC will be held in 2012, right in our own backyard at Michigan State University!!! Go Green*!!
Shake It Easy,
Nathan Bynum
